ALLU Transforms Construction Waste into Valuable Materials
03/01/2021
The very latest development from ALLU aimed at the demolition and recycling market is its new crusher series of –initially -three crusher models for excavators in the 10 to 33 ton range.
The ALLUseries of attachments are being used to literally transform construction waste from demolition projects into valuable materials, according to the manufacturer.
The unique attributes of the Allu Transformers, along with the recently launched Allu Crusher, have enabled asphalt, concrete, soil, bricks and other materials, to be turned into products for reuse.
Allu Transformer screener crushers offer solution for separating, sorting, screening and loading for several different types of demolition materials.
The base Transformer comprises of an excavator/ loader/tractor mounted processing bucket which screens, pulverizes, blends, mixes, separates, even crushes, feeds and loads materials. The result is that the material is effectively transformed into highly valuable products, making any business involved in demolitionand so forth more efficient, and more profitable.
What makes the Transformers an ideal solution for processing demolition materials is that as they are fitted to compact and versatile loaders, meaning that they are able to access even the most hard to get to sites. This enables on site processing, with the materials, such as concrete and bricks, often being reused directly where they are most needed.
This results in cost savings when there is less material for the landfill as well as more material for reuse.
In addition to cost savings, the environmental benefits are impressive, as the weight of the end product is reduced by upwards of 50 percent, meaning that transport is reduced, and with it any harmful emissions, according to the manufacturer.
Latest Development Ideal for Recycling
One of the latest developments, which has proven to be ideal for dealing with and recycling demolition materials, is the Allu TS blade structure. This has been developed to improve productivity with at its core being the configuration of the screening blades that spin between the screening combs.
The TS drums are available with two different blade types: standard blades for screening applications and axe blades when a crushing or shredding effect is required. Blade sizes available include 16-32 mm, 25-50 mm and 35mm, with the assembly enabling three different fragment sizes from the same unit.
Fragment size estimation is based on screening comb distance, with it being quick and easy to change from one screening job to another, providing more versatile processing.
Due to the TS’s self-cleaning design high capacity operation is ensured, even when the materialis wet or contaminated, due to the system’s non-clogging structure, according to the manufacturer.
New ALLU Crusher
The very latest development from ALLU aimed at the demolition and recycling market is its new crusher series of –initially -three crusher models for excavators in the 10 to 33 ton range. All have purpose developed features that ease their use and optimize performance, whilst providing easy maintenance in the field.
Amongst the many customer focused features included on the new Allu crushers are:
Reversible crushing: This reduces the potential for jamming, blockages, or obstruction with rebar are avoided, while delivering greater levels of production and reducing the need for any manual involvement in the crushing process.
Feed plate design built into the jaw: Ensures that the feeding function in a fully loaded chamber delivers high rates of production with minimal risk of bridging.
Simple mechanical pin adjustment for output size regulation: Makes the entire crushing process easy and safe with quick adjustment for various output specifications.
The crusher ‘opens like a clam’: Through this design easy and quick replacement ofwear parts is ensured through ease of access, saving time spent on maintenance, thereby minimizing risk to operators and maximizing productive crushing.
Jeroen Hinnen, vice president of sales of Allu Group said, “By bringing this new product line to market we will be able to provide customers with what they have been looking for. The Allu Transformer range offers unique productivity and efficiency benefits on a great deal of demolition materials and recycling applications, while the Allu Crusher range enables hard rock, and heavy duty –such as reinforced concrete -demolition materials, to be effectively reduced.”

Martintoni Srl invest in Transformer Series bucket attachment for enhanced recycling efficiency
MARTINTONI Srl have bolstered their mobile plant fleet and materials-processing equipment with the purchase of a new ALLU Transformer D-Series bucket attachment from authorized dealers Rammit SpA.
The ALLU Transformer Series comprises excavator/loader/tractor-mounted processing buckets that have been designed to crush, screen, recycle and reprocess construction and demolition (C&D) waste; effectively transforming the feed material into valuable products.
Martintoni took the decision to invest in the Transformer attachment after a successful demonstration at ALLU’s Finland-based headquarters, to show how the screening bucket can deliver topsoil benefits and help classify difficult, sticky waste that would have been sent directly to landfill.
Since delivery, the new ALLU DS 4-23 TS16-32 attachment – which has been fitted on a Liebherr L 556 XPower wheel loader via an OilQuick OQL 310 hydraulic quick coupler – has proven its efficiency in a demanding recycling operation for Martintoni.
In this waste-recycling application, most of the excavated materials contain a high percentage of roots and branches and other contaminants which the bucket, set with a spacing of 16mm, is able to screen effectively using ALLU’s TS blade structure.
With an improved recycling operation, Martintoni can now rely on a mobile equipment fleet that performs consistently at peak levels of productivity whilst catering for applications of all sizes and processing materials that can be screened, crushed, loaded and fed in a single cycle.
The DS 4-23 TS16-32 bucket attachment can load/process material to a maximum 3.5 cubic-metre capacity and is able achieve Martintoni’s desired daily production of over 1,000 cubic metres. As more C&D materials are being processed, reused and sold back to local markets, this will allow the materials supplier to meet the increased demand of recycled aggregates for use in roads, construction and landscaping projects.
ALLU and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) — a trade union that represents heavy equipment operators, mechanics, surveyors and stationary engineers in the United States and Canada — announce a new cooperation and partnership in pipeline training. Through this partnership, IUOE has begun using an ALLU Transformer screening bucket for its pipeline application training program. The first training was held in Texas, beginning on June 17, 2020. IUOE will be using the ALLU Transformer unit, donated by ALLU Group Inc., for all future pipeline training sessions.
The IUOE and the Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA), in joint cooperation, hold more than 170 training classes, working with more than 700 students each year, in programs that train operators from beginner through advanced levels. Sessions range from one to three weeks, and traditionally incorporate six days of 10 hours daily with classroom and field training in pipeline construction. Because the ALLU Transformer is recognized as an effective tool for pipeline padding and backfilling applications, IUOE/PLCA National Pipeline Training Director Bryan D. Abel and ALLU Group Inc. President Edgar J. Chavez began discussing its potential as a tool for the IUOE pipeline training program. The ALLU Transformer allows material to be screened onsite and then backfilled directly into a trench, thus eliminating the need for dedicated stationary screening or the purchase of fine soil.
“We had spoken previously, but we developed the partnership more fully during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 in Las Vegas,” says Abel. “We sat down at the show, and Edgar told us, ‘We want to help.’ We have IUOE operators who use the ALLU buckets, and we agreed this would enhance our training. So, we ironed out the details.”
The ALLU Transformer was delivered to IUOE’s Texas training facility just prior to the June 17 session. Chavez and ALLU Group Inc. Vice President, Training and Application, Bernie Olender attended for initial setup and to observe and assist with the class, which hosted 19 students. Moving forward, the ALLU Transformer will be used with IUOE’s intermediate pipeline training classes, in field training sessions where students will operate the unit in three- to four-hour rotations.
According to Chavez, “Safety is one of ALLU’s core values. The partnership with ALLU, IUOE and PLCA solidifies this value in the pipeline industry, as better training means safer overall operation.”
The pipeline training at the IUOE facility near Houston, Texas, covers all pipeline techniques from digging trenches, to laying pipeline, to padding/backfilling, to removing old pipeline. The mock pipeline jobsite accurately simulates real pipeline jobsites and situations. With the ALLU unit, training will include padding and backfilling, as well as maintenance of the unit.
“Our Texas training facility is first-class,” notes Abel. “We fly our members in and pick them up at the airport. We have a 225-room dormitory onsite, with a fully staffed kitchen and amenities. We serve three meals a day, we have a swimming pool and a recreation area — and our training is at no cost to IUOE members.”
Abel says the addition of the ALLU Transformer to the pipeline training program is a great benefit to IUOE membership, as it is an excellent embodiment of the advances in technology within the pipeline industry. “Right down to the ability to use Bluetooth to communicate between a smart phone and the bucket – ALLU is really on top of its game with technology,” he adds.
Additionally, Abel says participants were grateful to have Chavez and Olender onsite during training. “One participant told us it was refreshing and encouraging to see executives with ALLU step up, want to help and personally see it through.”
Beginning this fall, a new ALLU AC Crusher bucket will be delivered to an IUOE sister affiliate — Local 181 in Kentucky — to assist with hill and winch training. Abel says the rocky and hilly terrain in Kentucky lends to challenges that are unique from conditions in eastern Texas. The ability to train with the ALLU AC will be an additional benefit for IUOE members.
