ALLU and MAPEI are announcing their cooperation within concrete recycling

ALLU and MAPEI are both world class leading companies in their respective fields with global distribution networks. Through the cooperation customers will have access to the highest level of knowledge within concrete recycling.

The ALLU MAPEI Circulus system is aimed at large and medium sized RMC producers or cement/concrete recycling companies who wish to reduce the cost of handling returned concrete waste. Besides the positive environmental effects, through less new material needed, the system will generate substantial savings in production. Savings of up to tens of Euro’s per cubic meter of concrete produced are achievable through savings towards landfill cost and reduced costs for virgin aggregate.

The system is simple and requires minimal investments: the MAPEI Re-con Zero- chemical and an ALLU Transformer. With Re-Con Zero the wet returned concrete is transformed into a dry granulate. The ALLU Transformer then processes the hardened lumps and screens them into the specified aggregate size to be recycled with fresh concrete. A concrete manufacturer may then use between 5% and 30% of the recycled aggregate with new concrete. This will bring significant savings to the cost of buying virgin aggregate. The system also greatly reduces the amount of washed out sludge from concrete trucks. Waste sludge is an environmental challenge as it must go to a landfill and is therefore an additional cost for concrete producers.

The ALLU MAPEI Circulus system assists the concrete industry towards sustainability in concrete manufacturing. The global consumption of concrete is a staggering 23 Billion tons per year, and it is estimated that approximately 2% of all concrete produced in the world is returned to the producer. The majority of this ends up on a landfill. An estimated five (5%) percent of all man-made carbon dioxide emissions stem from cement and concrete production. Two (2%) percent of produced and returned concrete adds up to 460 million tons being unnecessarily put on landfills, resulting in a staggering total of 53 million tons of carbon dioxide being emitted. With the ALLU MAPEI Circulus, there is an opportunity to save up to 96% on the above-mentioned CO2 emissions.

Companies working together to transform returned concrete into high-quality recycled aggregate

ALLU MAPEI Circulus is a highly mobile and industrially efficient method for transforming returned concrete into a high-quality recycled aggregate. The system is aimed at large and medium-sized ready-mixed concrete producers or cement/concrete recycling companies who wish to reduce the costs associated with returned waste concrete. The system also greatly reduces the amount of wash-out sludge from concrete truckmixers.

According to ALLU and MAPEI, savings of up to tens of Euro’s per cubic metre of concrete produced are said to be achievable through reductions in both landfill costs and virgin aggregate costs.

The system itself is simple and requires minimal investment in MAPEI’s Re-con Zero chemical and an ALLU Transformer. Using Re-Con Zero, the returned wet concrete is transformed into a dry granulate, whereupon the ALLU Transformer is used to process the hardened lumps and screen them into specified aggregate sizes suitable for recycling in fresh concrete.

Concrete manufacturers can use between 5% and 30% of the recycled aggregate in new concrete, resulting in significant savings in production costs.

According to ALLU and MAPEI, the Circulus system can assist the concrete industry’s drive towards sustainability in concrete manufacturing. Global consumption of concrete is around 23 billion tonnes per year and it is estimated that approximately 2% of all concrete is returned to the producer, much of it ending up in landfill.

With an estimated 5% percent of all man-made CO2 emissions resulting from cement and concrete production, the 2% (460 million tonnes) of concrete that is produced and returned results in some 53 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissons. With ALLU MAPEI Circulus, there is an opportunity to save up to 96% of these emissions.

Finnish recycler invests in transformer attachment

The “exciting capabilities” of the Allu range of Transformers have seen Finnish recycling company Remeo invest in a D series attachment. The processing power of the transformer has proven to be particularly effective in dealing with demolition waste and recycling asphalt, says Allu.

The Allu Transformer series comprises an excavator-/loader-/tractor-mounted processing bucket which screens, pulverizes, aerates, blends, mixes, separates, crushes, feeds and loads materials. The feed material can be effectively transformed into highly valuable products, says the firm, making any business more efficient, and more profitable.

Catering for applications of all sizes, and capable of processing any material that can be screened and sorted, the Allu Transformer series comprises of the compact DL & D Series as well as the “truly massive” M and G Series.

The Allu Transformer is said to be ideal for recycling, as well as processing concrete, waste, soil, sand, rocks and minerals. It also aerates, in addition to operations like screening, loading and crushing, all of which can be carried out on site. This “truly mobile” solution provides the versatility and flexibility to enable work to be accomplished more efficiently even in the most challenging environments, says Allu. “And this results in substantial savings in material and transport costs, as no time is lost when waiting for replacement material.”

In the case of Finnish environmental management company Remeo, the processing power of the recently acquired D Series Transformer “has proven to be particularly effective in dealing with demolition waste and recycling asphalt.”

Remeo employs in the region of 350 people, and utilises a specialist fleet of recycling fleet of equipment consisting of over 200 vehicles. With offices located throughout Finland, including Vantaa, Riihimäki, Tampere, Heinola, Lahti, Kotka, Turku, Vaasa, Uusikaupunki, Lappeenranta, Seinäjoki, Vihanta, and Ylivieska, the company’s comprehensive collection network channels waste for recycling to its nine recycling stations. Materials are here recycled and treated in plants before being delivered for appropriate further processing, or for processing as an industrial raw material.

The Allu attachment has enabled Remeo to utilise its existing fleet of excavators and loaders to deal with materials either on site, in the case of demolition waste and road planings, or load screened material directly onto its haulage fleet. As the processing power of the Allu Transformer reduces weight by up to 50% (by screening out valuable materials prior to hauling) this increases the efficiency of its operation, as well as reducing emissions from its haulage fleet.

Remeo processes the waste it receives into valuable products at its nine recycling centres into valuable products that are resold and reused. Any materials that cannot be recycled are much reduced, thereby reducing any landfill costs by up to 80%. This makes Remeo’s investment in Allu Transformers both environmentally friendly, and highly cost effective.

Working to a depth of 3m, the 2.1tonne, the Processor 300 HD is made from wear- resistant steel and with a stem designed to be strong, streamlined and lightweight. As with its smaller sibling the 300 HD, the 2.44tonne Processor 500 HD is both durable and strong and can work to a depth of 5m. Both units are powered by the excavator’s hydraulic system and are able to mix materials on any site. This means that binders or chemical agents can be delivered to the area of the highest mixing shear by an attached 80mm diameter pipe, and injected via a nozzle located between the mixing drums.

“Warm” UK reception for ALLU at Hillhead 2018

In June, Finnish processing technology company ALLU demonstrated the capabilities of its range of Transformers through its new UK distributor, Blue Machinery Group company, Murray Plant at Hillhead.

Hillhead is the world’s largest ‘live-action’ quarrying show and was held from the 26 – 28 June in Buxton, Derbyshire (UK). As such, ALLU used the show to demonstrate the benefits of the Transformer series, which has proved to be ideal for quarrying, surface mining and aggregate production.

Part of the Blue Machinery Group of companies, Murray Plant also displayed other key product ranges, including the world-renowned Rammer hydraulic breakers and demolition attachments.

The ideal solution for quarrying and aggregates

The ALLU Transformer Series was reportedly the main focus of Murray Plant’s ALLU offering at Hillhead. This comprises of an excavator/ loader/ tractor mounted processing bucket which screens, pulverises, aerates, blends, mixes, separates, even crushes, feeds and loads materials. This results in the feed material being effectively transformed into highly valuable products, making any business involved in waste and recycling more efficient, and more profitable.

Catering for applications of all sizes, and capable of processing any material that can be screened and sorted, the ALLU Transformer Series comprises of the compact DL & D Series as well as the truly massive M and G Series. All are designed to transform the way in which materials handling and processing businesses are able to improve their efficiency and profitability. The latter have proved themselves on truly massive quarrying and surface mining applications throughout the world, being designed for use by excavators up to 300 t.

Positive reception

Earlier this year, Blue Machinery Ltd announced the acquisition of Rammer’s UK dealer, Murray Plant Ltd. As a key part of the Blue Group, this has led to the company now being able to supply its customers with a first class range of products. As well as being the exclusive Rammer dealer for the UK, Murray Plant Ltd was also the Scotland distributor for the ALLU range of Transformers and Processors, and is now the exclusive distributor for the whole of the UK.

ALLU’s UK Distributor Manager, Carlos Guallart, commented: “The opportunity to work alongside a company of Blue’s stature, as well as continue our relationship with Murray Plant which has dominated the UK breaker market for many years, is a fantastic opportunity.”

“We are now working with all parties to ensure that ALLU customers throughout the UK are able to benefit from dealing with such respected organisations. As the recent Hillhead exhibition showed, the combination of ALLU equipment and Murray Plant’s expertise has been warmly received by UK customers.”

“What is genuinely exciting for all UK quarrying, demolition, construction, civil engineering and material handling businesses, is that now, for the very first time, the leading brands have now been brought together,” said Murray Plant’s Sales Director, Fergal O’Neill.

“Visitors to our stand at Hillhead were excited by the operating synergies now available to them through Blue Machinery and Murray Plant.”

President of ALLU, Ola Ulmala, commented: “We saw at first hand during Hillhead how the combination of ALLU equipment and global aftermarket support, together with the local knowledge and industry expertise of Blue Machinery and Murray Plant, will enable ALLU customers to benefit from a winning combination.”
