When Dig Dig Demolition sought a reliable solution for screening topsoil, they contacted Walkers Hammers, ALLU’s dealer in Australia. After exploring ALLU Screening Buckets from the demonstration and rental fleet, and assessing Dig Dig’s specific operational needs, a live demonstration was conducted using the DN 2-12 TS with 16mm Axe blades on their Hitachi Z Axis 225 excavator.

After the demonstration, which included setup, installation, and operation, Bryn Lynch from Dig Dig Demolition was immediately impressed and decided to keep the bucket on a week-long rental to further test its capabilities. During the rental period, the bucket proved to be highly effective in Dig Dig’s core operations—demolition and site clean-up, with a particular focus on topsoil recycling.
The ALLU Screening Bucket not only screened topsoil but also shredded grass, producing beautiful, high-quality topsoil that could be stockpiled for an extended time. This allowed Bryn to either reuse and resell the soil or apply it directly on-site for landscaping purposes. The bucket’s versatility didn’t stop there. It screens not only surface soil but also demolition waste, separating fine-grained materials and removing waste, allowing skip containers to be filled to capacity without wasted space and enabling high-quality soil to be reused.

Choosing the perfect solution
Bryn confirmed that the ALLU Screening Bucket was precisely the solution needed. To maximise productivity and fully utilise the excavator’s capacity, the DN 3-12 TS model with 16mm Axe blades was selected.
The decision was influenced by:
- Increased efficiency in topsoil recycling
- Reduction of waste through fines separation
- Enhanced bin capacity utilisation
- Compatibility with their new Hitachi excavator
Bryn Lynch from Dig Dig Demolition says:
“The ALLU Transformer has made our topsoil recycling process faster, cleaner, and more efficient. It’s exactly what we needed to take our operations to the next level.”

Outcome & Benefits
The ALLU solution has brought significant improvements by increasing operational efficiency, reducing costs, supporting sustainability goals, and optimizing equipment utilization. Through enhanced material processing and matching equipment to job requirements, they have achieved benefits in several key areas:
- Faster screening and less waste
- Better load capacity and reduced skip bin usage
- Soil reuse supports environmental goals
- Optimized bucket size for better excavator performance
